How the estimate works
No guesswork and no black box: every estimate is built from real UAE listings, and you can see each step.
- 01
Real UAE listings
Every machine listed for sale with a price on EquipmentsFinder in the UAE, refreshed daily. Prices from other countries are left out: an excavator in Shanghai and one in Sharjah are different markets.
- 02
Read like a dealer would
The year, the size and the model are read from each listing - a Komatsu PC200 is a 20-ton machine even when the seller never wrote "20 ton".
- 03
One model per type of machine
For each type a statistical model learns how much price moves with age, size, brand and condition. Where a type has few listings it leans on what holds across all equipment, so one odd listing cannot swing it.
- 04
A range, with the evidence
The range is where half of similar machines are listed. It widens when data is thin or you leave the year or size blank, and the closest real listings are shown under every estimate.

The method, for the curious
Log asking price per type of machine, with age and size slopes fitted by Theil-Sen regression, brand and new-machine effects, and empirical-Bayes shrinkage toward the whole market. Tested by predicting every listing from all the others: on UAE listings its error is about a sixth smaller than the plain category average, and the stated range holds half of real prices, as a 50% range should.
Questions
What sellers and buyers ask most about equipment prices in the UAE.
How do you decide if a price is fair?
The machine is priced from UAE listings of the same type, adjusted for its age, size, brand and condition. A fair price falls in the range half of similar machines are listed in; below or above it is flagged.
A machine is listed below the market. Is it a bargain?
Maybe. A low price can mean an urgent sale, but also high hours, missing paperwork, accident damage or a machine that is not where the listing says. Ask for the hour meter, service records and a site visit before you pay a deposit.
A machine is above the market. Should I walk away?
Not always. Low hours, a recent rebuild, attachments or a warranty can be worth more than the range shows. Ask the seller what justifies the price, and compare it with the similar listings shown.
Are these sale prices or asking prices?
Asking prices. Most deals close a little below them, so a price at the bottom of the range is already a good one.
How often are the prices updated?
Every day, from the machines listed for sale at the time. Listings that are sold or withdrawn drop out.
Does this work outside the UAE?
No. Prices differ from country to country, so this tool uses UAE listings only and gives prices in AED. Other markets get their own tool once they have enough listings.
