Compaction plant turns loose fill, sub-base and hot asphalt into a surface that will carry traffic, and every road, yard and building pad in the UAE passes under a roller before it is finished. Today 124 compactors are listed for hire across the UAE from 84 suppliers, 2 of them verified. Road rollers make up 101 of those listings, with pneumatic tyre rollers, plate compactors, hand rollers and single-drum rollers filling out the category.
Caterpillar is the most listed make with 54 machines, followed by Dynapac with 23, Bomag with 7 and Komatsu with 5. Dubai holds 57 listings, Sharjah emirate 31 and Abu Dhabi emirate 25.
Suppliers list their own rollers and compactors with drum width, operating weight and model year, and every listing shows the supplier's phone and WhatsApp number. The renter contacts the supplier directly, agrees the hire and arranges delivery. EquipmentsFinder charges renters nothing and takes no commission.
The subcategory pages narrow the search: road rollers with 101 listings, PTR rollers with 10, plate compactors with 6, hand rollers with 5 and single-drum rollers with 2. A request on the inquiry board describing the material, the area and the dates brings quotes from suppliers across the market.
Single-drum rollers carry a vibrating steel drum at the front and driven rubber wheels behind, and are the machine for soil, sand and sub-base: embankments, building pads and road formation. Double-drum (tandem) rollers have two steel drums and are used on asphalt and granular base, where a flat finish matters. Road rollers are the bulk of the stock on the platform, and most of the Caterpillar and Dynapac units listed are in the 10 to 12 tonne single-drum class.
Walk-behind plate compactors handle backfill around manholes, paving bedding, trench reinstatement and small patches where a roller cannot reach. Forward plates suit granular material and asphalt patching; heavier reversible plates compact deeper lifts. Six are listed today, and they are the lowest-cost item in the category.
Trench rollers are narrow, remote-controlled padfoot machines that compact cohesive backfill in a trench without a person entering it. They are not separately listed at present, so ask for one on the inquiry board; some suppliers carry them with their utility plant.
PTR rollers run on rows of rubber tyres rather than drums and knead asphalt to seal the surface after the breakdown pass, as well as finishing chip seal and compacting thin layers. Ten are listed today, which makes them easier to find here than in most categories.
Match the compactor to the material and the layer thickness. Cohesive soils with clay content need the kneading action of a padfoot drum; sand and granular sub-base compact best under a smooth vibrating drum; asphalt needs a tandem roller for the breakdown pass and a pneumatic roller for the finish. Layer thickness decides the weight: a 300 mm lift of sub-base wants a 10 tonne class machine, while a 50 mm asphalt overlay is damaged by anything heavy.
Then look at the job geometry. Wide open areas suit the widest drum available to cut the number of passes. Trenches, kerb lines and tight yards call for a small tandem roller, a trench roller or a plate. Finally, specify what the test regime requires, since a density test that fails means re-rolling at the renter's cost.
Rates are set by each supplier and published on the listing where the supplier chooses to show them. Ten listings currently publish a daily rate: these run from AED 30 to AED 1,400, with a typical rate around AED 850 a day. The low end is a plate compactor and the top end a large road roller. Ten listings publish a monthly rate, typically around AED 13,000 a month and up to AED 16,000.
Two listings currently state that an operator is offered; the rest are dry hire with the renter's own licensed operator. Delivery by lowbed for a 10 tonne roller, fuel, water for the drum spray and VAT are agreed with the supplier. Model years listed cluster around 2013 to 2020.
Dubai has 57 compactors listed for hire today, 56 of them in Dubai city. The compactors in Dubai hold the widest choice of road rollers and the plate compactors.
Abu Dhabi emirate has 25 listings, 23 of them in Musaffah. See the Abu Dhabi compactor listings for rollers close to the capital's road and infrastructure sites.
Sharjah emirate has 31 compactors listed: 26 in Sharjah city and 5 in Adh Dhayd. The Sharjah compactor listings also serve Ajman and Umm Al Quwain.
Ras Al Khaimah has 5 compactors listed, Fujairah 4 in Al Fujairah City, and Ajman 2, with none in Umm Al Quwain today. Suppliers in Sharjah and Dubai deliver to the north by lowbed for a transport charge.
Post a request with the material, the area to be compacted, the site and the dates, and compactor suppliers across the UAE will reply with quotes. Pavers, graders and other road plant are listed in the equipment rental hub.

Of the listings publishing prices today, daily rates run from AED 30 for a plate compactor to AED 1,400 for a large road roller, with a typical rate around AED 850. Monthly rates are typically around AED 13,000 and reach AED 16,000. These are machine-only figures from ten listings; operator, delivery, fuel and VAT are confirmed with the supplier.
Match weight to the layer: a 10 to 12 tonne single-drum roller for sub-base and embankment lifts of 200 to 300 mm, a 2 to 4 tonne tandem for thin asphalt and small areas, and a plate compactor for trenches and patches. Use a padfoot drum for clay soils, a smooth drum for sand and granular material, and a pneumatic roller for asphalt finishing.
Two of the 124 listings currently state that an operator is offered, so most hire is dry hire and the renter provides a licensed operator. Plate compactors need no licence to operate but do need a trained user. Suppliers can sometimes add an operator at a daily rate, so ask when requesting a quote.
Yes. Plate compactors and small tandem rollers are often hired by the day, and ten listings publish a daily rate today. For a large roller the lowbed transport costs the same for one day as for a week, so the weekly or monthly rate is better value on anything longer than a few days. Ask the supplier about minimum hire periods.
Compactors are listed in six emirates, with the most in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah suppliers reach the Northern Emirates. Large rollers travel by lowbed, so transport is quoted by distance; plate compactors can go on a pickup. State the site location in the request for an accurate delivery price.
Caterpillar is the most listed make with 54 machines today, followed by Dynapac with 23, Bomag with 7, Komatsu with 5, and Atlas, JCB, Volvo and Hamm with 4 each. Most are road rollers in the 10 to 12 tonne class. Ask the supplier for hours, drum condition and the state of the vibration system on older units.
