A backhoe loader digs with the rear arm and loads with the front bucket, which is why it is the first machine on most small sites: utility trenches, villa foundations, landscaping and road reinstatement. Today 130 backhoe loaders are listed for hire in the UAE from 111 suppliers, 1 of them verified. JCB dominates the category with 119 listings, and Case, Terex, Volvo, Caterpillar, Bobcat and one other make account for the rest.
Stock is spread evenly between Abu Dhabi emirate (47 listings, 45 of them in Musaffah) and Dubai (47), with 25 in Sharjah emirate and a handful in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Ajman. Nine listings publish a daily rate, and the typical figure is about AED 800 a day.
Suppliers list their own backhoe loaders on EquipmentsFinder with model, year, hours and a phone and WhatsApp number. The renter picks a listing, calls the supplier and agrees the hire directly. Nothing is charged to the renter and no commission is added, so the price quoted is the supplier's own.
When a machine is needed at short notice, or in an emirate with little stock, a request on the inquiry board describes the job, site and dates, and suppliers reply with offers. With 111 suppliers in the category, this usually produces several quotes within the day.
Two-wheel-drive machines are the economy option for level, firm sites: compounds, yards and roadside works on sealed ground. They are lighter on fuel and cheaper to hire, but struggle in loose sand, which rules them out for much of the UAE's open ground.
Four-wheel drive is the standard in the Gulf, and most of the 119 JCB machines listed are 4WD models in the 3CX and 4CX class. The extra traction handles sand, graded sub-base and wet trenches, and the larger 4CX class adds equal-size wheels, more loader capacity and deeper dig. For a general site machine, this is the type to ask for.
Compact backhoes narrow enough for a villa side passage or an internal courtyard are a smaller part of the stock. They dig to around 2.5 metres, tow behind a pickup or travel on a small trailer, and suit irrigation, cabling and drainage work in finished developments where a full-size machine would damage paving.
A backhoe loader is two machines in one and drives itself between sites on the road, so it wins where the work mixes trenching, backfilling, loading a tipper and moving pallets, and where the site changes every few days. A tracked excavator digs faster and deeper, rotates through 360 degrees and lifts more, but needs a lowbed to move and a separate loader to handle material.
As a rule of thumb, a trench under 4 metres deep with loading and backfilling on the same day is backhoe work. Bulk excavation, deep basements and sustained digging in rock favour an excavator, and a mini excavator plus a skid steer sometimes beats both on a cramped site. Comparing hire rates for each option on the platform takes a few minutes.
Most backhoe listings come with a standard digging bucket and a general-purpose loader bucket. Suppliers can often add a narrow trenching bucket, a ditching bucket, a hydraulic breaker for concrete and rock, pallet forks for the loader arms, or a 6-in-1 loader bucket for grading and grabbing. Attachments are priced separately and sometimes hired only with the machine, so list what is needed in the request and confirm the quick-hitch type if bringing your own.
Each supplier sets its own rate and publishes it on the listing where it chooses to. Nine listings currently publish a daily rate, with a typical figure of about AED 800 a day and the highest at AED 850. Nine listings publish a monthly rate, typically about AED 12,000 a month and up to AED 17,000. These figures are for the machine; an operator, fuel, delivery and VAT are agreed separately with the supplier.
Only one listing currently states that an operator is offered, so most hire is dry hire. The machine's age also moves the price: listings range from 2002 models to 2025 machines, and a newer 4CX will sit at the top of the monthly range.
Dubai has 47 backhoe loaders listed for hire today, all in Dubai city. The backhoe loaders in Dubai are the starting point for sites across the emirate, and Dubai suppliers often serve Sharjah and Ajman too.
Abu Dhabi emirate matches Dubai with 47 listings, 45 of them in Musaffah and 2 in Al Ain. See the Abu Dhabi backhoe loader listings for machines close to the capital's industrial and residential projects.
Sharjah emirate has 25 backhoe loaders listed, 23 of them in Sharjah city. The Sharjah backhoe loader listings cover the industrial areas and suppliers who deliver into the Northern Emirates.
Ras Al Khaimah has 5 backhoe loaders listed and Fujairah 4, all in Al Fujairah City, with 2 in Ajman and none in Umm Al Quwain today. Because a backhoe drives on the road, suppliers in neighbouring emirates can usually deliver without a lowbed.
Post a request with the dig depth, the site, the dates and any attachments needed, and backhoe suppliers across the UAE will reply with quotes. Other earthmoving categories are listed in the equipment rental hub.

Of the listings publishing prices today, the typical daily rate is about AED 800, with the highest published daily rate at AED 850. Monthly rates are typically about AED 12,000 and run up to AED 17,000. These are machine-only figures from nine listings; operator, fuel, delivery and VAT are confirmed with the supplier when booking.
Choose a backhoe loader when the job mixes digging, loading and moving material on one site, the trench is under about 4 metres deep, and the machine needs to move between sites by road. Choose an excavator for bulk excavation, deep basements, rock or sustained digging, where its speed and reach outweigh the transport cost.
Usually not. Only one of the 130 listings currently states that an operator is offered, so most hire is dry hire and the renter supplies a licensed operator. Some suppliers can arrange an operator at a daily rate on request, and any operator must hold a valid licence for the machine class.
Yes. Daily hire is common for backhoe loaders, and nine listings publish a daily rate today. Delivery and collection are charged on top and cost the same for one day as for a week, so for jobs over a few days the weekly or monthly rate is better value. Confirm minimum hire periods with the supplier.
Cover follows the stock: Dubai and Abu Dhabi emirate each hold 47 machines, Sharjah suppliers reach the Northern Emirates, and because a backhoe loader travels under its own power, nearby sites are often served without a lowbed. Musaffah suppliers cover Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. State the site location in the request so the supplier can confirm coverage and transport cost.
JCB accounts for 119 of the 130 listings today, mostly 3CX and 4CX class machines. Case has 4 listings, Terex 2, and Volvo, Caterpillar, Bobcat and one other make 1 each. Model years range from 2002 to 2025, so ask the supplier for hours and service history on older units before booking.
