There are 41 aerial platforms listed for hire in Abu Dhabi today, from 15 suppliers. All 41 are based in Mussafah, which is convenient for industrial jobs there and a short transport leg for sites on the island or in KIZAD. The fleet splits into 16 boom lifts, 12 manlifts, 12 scissor lifts and a single spider lift. JLG (18) and Genie (14) account for most of it, with Skyjack, Haulotte, Mitsubishi and XCMG making up the rest.
Suppliers' contact numbers are on each listing. There is no charge to the hirer for using EquipmentsFinder, and the rate is settled with the supplier. The UAE-wide selection is on the aerial platforms rental page, and every other category in the emirate is on the Abu Dhabi hire hub.
Start with the working height, the platform load (people plus tools) and whether the floor is finished concrete or rough ground. Those three facts narrow 41 listings to a handful. Open the listing, check the model and year, and phone or WhatsApp the supplier to confirm the unit is free for the dates.
Delivery is arranged by the supplier, normally on a flatbed or trailer, and is quoted separately where it is not written on the listing. The supplier will want the site address, access width and any gate height limit before committing to a time.
Twelve scissor lifts are listed. A scissor lift carries a wide platform straight up, which suits ceiling work, cladding and MEP installation in warehouses and fit-outs where the work is directly above the machine. Electric slab scissors run indoors on finished floors; rough-terrain models with diesel engines handle compacted ground outside.
The 16 boom lifts are the largest group. An articulating boom folds around obstacles, so it reaches over pipe racks and structural steel; a telescopic boom gives the longest horizontal outreach for facade and steelwork jobs. Listings state working height in metres, measured to the hands of a person on the platform rather than to the platform floor.
Twelve manlifts cover single-person vertical access: narrow, light units that pass through a standard doorway, used for lighting, sprinkler and cable-tray work in occupied buildings and retail space. They are the quickest to deliver and the simplest to operate.
One spider lift is currently listed. Tracked, with outriggers that spread wide, a spider lift reaches tall atriums and gardens that a boom lift cannot drive into. With a single unit in the emirate, ask early or post a request.
The two numbers on every listing are working height and platform capacity. Take the height from the highest point of the work, not the floor level, and leave a margin; a lift that only just reaches is being used at full extension all day. Capacity is people and tools combined, and on some booms the rated figure drops when the basket is fully extended.
Outdoors, wind matters. Platforms have a rated wind speed above which they must be lowered, and on exposed coastal sites in Abu Dhabi city that limit is reached on more days than people expect.
Electric machines are quiet, emit nothing and run on non-marking tyres, which makes them the choice for finished floors, hospitals, malls and occupied offices on the island. Diesel platforms have four-wheel drive, oscillating axles and the clearance to cross rough ground, which is what the yards and plots in Mussafah and KIZAD demand.
With 41 listings, the practical approach is electric for inside and diesel for outside, then a check with the supplier that the battery or fuel tank covers a full shift. Years on the listings that state one run from 2009 to 2020.
Only 3 of the 41 listings publish a rate, so there is no reliable Abu Dhabi average to quote. Pricing is set by each supplier and shown on the listing where published. Expect a daily, weekly and monthly figure, with the monthly rate the best value per day; delivery and collection are usually a separate line, and VAT should be confirmed as included or excluded.
None of the 41 listings currently include an operator. Platforms are hired as self-operated machines, with the renter's own trained staff at the controls.
Every aerial platform on this page is listed in Mussafah, where all 15 suppliers are based. Collecting from the yard is an option for the lighter manlifts if suitable transport is available.
No platform is tagged to KIZAD or Ruwais. For KIZAD, Mussafah suppliers quote a transport charge per movement; for Ruwais, the distance makes a weekly or monthly hire more sensible, and it is worth asking whether the supplier has anyone in the west for breakdowns.
Island projects get their platforms from Mussafah as well. Site access matters here: ask whether the machine will arrive on a trailer that can enter a basement or podium, and allow extra time for delivery into busy central districts.
Neither Al Ain nor the western region has an aerial platform listed today. Posting a request is the quickest way to find out which Mussafah supplier is prepared to deliver there and at what cost.
When the right height or type is not on the grid, post a request giving the working height, indoor or outdoor use, dates and site location; suppliers across the UAE reply with quotes. Suppliers with platforms in Abu Dhabi can list them at no cost.
Only 3 of the 41 Abu Dhabi listings currently publish a rate, so a typical figure cannot be given with confidence. Each supplier sets its own daily, weekly and monthly prices and shows them on the listing where published. Phone the supplier with the working height, duration and site address for a quote, and ask whether delivery and VAT are included.
Work from the task: measure the highest point to be reached, add clearance, and that is the working height. Decide whether the platform must move around obstacles (boom) or go straight up with a wide deck (scissor), and whether the floor is finished (electric) or rough ground (diesel). Then check platform capacity against the crew and tools going up.
None of the Abu Dhabi listings currently state that an operator is included. Aerial platforms are normally hired as self-operated machines, and the renter's staff must be trained and licensed for the class of equipment. If an operator is required, say so when contacting the supplier, since some can arrange one at an additional rate.
Daily hire is common for platforms, particularly manlifts and small scissors used for a short installation job. Short terms carry a higher daily rate and the same delivery and collection charges as a longer hire, so a two-day job can cost almost as much as a week. Confirm the minimum term with the supplier before booking.
All 41 listings are based in Mussafah, and delivery to the island, KIZAD and other sites in the emirate is arranged by each supplier at a transport charge agreed per job. Whether a supplier will deliver to Al Ain or Ruwais depends on the supplier and the hire length, so ask when calling or post a request stating the location.
JLG is on 18 of the 41 listings and Genie on 14, so most of the fleet comes from those two manufacturers. Skyjack has 4 machines listed, and Haulotte, Mitsubishi and XCMG have one each. Model and year are stated on each listing; for those that give a year, the range is 2009 to 2020.
