Need equipment? Have equipment?
Buyers post one request and get quotes from verified suppliers. Suppliers list free and reach active demand.
No horizontal drilling rigs are listed for hire in Abu Dhabi today. Horizontal directional drilling, or HDD, installs pipes, ducts and cables under roads, canals and built-up areas without trenching, and in the emirate it is used for utility crossings under the main roads, fibre and power ducting on the islands, and pipeline crossings in the oil and gas corridor towards Ruwais.
HDD contractors elsewhere in the UAE take work in Abu Dhabi, and a posted request reaches verified suppliers across the market. The UAE horizontal drilling rig page shows national stock, and the Dubai and Sharjah pages cover those emirates. Excavators and vacuum trucks for the launch and reception pits are on the Abu Dhabi rental hub.
When listings appear here they will show the rig's thrust and pullback rating, bore length and diameter range, brand and year, with the supplier's phone and WhatsApp on the listing. Equipment Finders charges renters nothing and takes no commission. A useful request states the bore length, the pipe diameter and material, the ground conditions and the site location.
Small tracked rigs for short bores of fibre and small-diameter ducts under streets and footpaths in Abu Dhabi city and the residential areas of Al Ain. They fit on a trailer and work from a small pit.
The common class for water, sewer and medium power ducts under main roads and in KIZAD, with the pullback to install pipes of a few hundred metres in sand and weak rock.
Maxi rigs for long pipeline crossings under creeks, highways and sensitive ground, used on oil and gas and bulk water projects around Ruwais and Al Dhafra. They move in several loads and need a mud recycling unit and a large launch pit.
The rig is sized from the pullback force needed to install the pipe, which rises with bore length, pipe diameter and ground friction. Loose sand and sabkha near the coast need careful drilling fluid control to keep the bore open, while caprock and the harder ground inland need rock tooling and a mud motor. The geotechnical information along the bore path decides the tooling, and the reamer size follows from the pipe diameter.
No Abu Dhabi HDD rig listing exists to quote a rate from. HDD rigs are usually hired with a crew by the day or the month, or the work is priced per metre of bore. Mobilisation, drilling fluid and additives, tooling wear, a locating system, the crew and VAT should each be confirmed with the supplier.
HDD demand runs along the utility corridors of Abu Dhabi city and the islands, the industrial networks of Mussafah, ICAD and KIZAD, and the pipeline routes towards Ruwais and Al Dhafra. No supplier is listed in any of these areas today; a request with the crossing location lets contractors from the other emirates quote with mobilisation included.
No horizontal drilling rigs are listed in Abu Dhabi today, so no rate can be quoted. HDD rigs are usually hired with a crew by the day or month, or the crossing is priced per metre. Mobilisation, drilling fluid, tooling and VAT are normally extra. Post a request with the bore length and pipe size to get quotes from across the UAE.
Size the rig from the pullback needed, which depends on bore length, pipe diameter and ground. Compact rigs handle short fibre and duct bores under streets, mid-size rigs cover water, sewer and power ducts under main roads, and maxi rigs are for long pipeline crossings. Share the ground information along the path so tooling can be chosen.
Usually, because HDD rigs run with a trained driller, a locator and a fluid operator, but it varies by supplier and will be stated on the listing or agreed when the supplier is contacted. Operators need a valid licence for the machine class. Confirm the crew size and whether the locating equipment is included.
Compact rigs can be hired for a day or two for a short crossing, provided the pits and the pipe are ready when the rig arrives. Mid-size and maxi rigs are mobilised for the crossing or the contract, so suppliers price them by the bore rather than by the day.
No supplier is listed in Abu Dhabi today. HDD contractors based in Dubai and the Northern Emirates work across the emirate, from the islands and KIZAD to Al Ain and Ruwais, with mobilisation charged by distance. A posted request with the crossing location reaches those suppliers directly.
Bores under roads, utilities and infrastructure need the asset owner's permission and a no-objection certificate for the services in the ground, and these are the site's responsibility rather than the rig supplier's. Have the utility drawings and trial pit results ready before the rig is booked, because they also decide the tooling and fluid plan.
