It delivers materials and places them without a separate forklift or crane, which makes it practical for scattered sites, small contractors and short-notice deliveries. Hiab is a crane brand, and the term is often used for any lorry with a loader crane. The two are close in practice. Compare the crane's lift capacity, reach and the truck's deck length in the listing rather than the name.
Both numbers are set by the model. The crane chart gives lift weight at each reach, and the truck has a separate payload. Share your heaviest piece and the distance it must be placed with the supplier to confirm a match.
Often a driver operates the crane, but this varies by supplier and is shown on the listing or confirmed on the call. Crane lifts on construction sites need a lift plan, and the operator needs the right licence.
