Sixty-two crawler cranes are listed for hire in the UAE today, from 11 suppliers, none verified yet. Dubai has 38, Sharjah 13 and Abu Dhabi 11. By make, Liebherr appears on 14 listings, Kobelco on 12, Sany on 11 and Hitachi on 7.
No listing carries a published day or month rate. Crawler crane hire is normally quoted per project, because mobilisation, assembly, counterweights and the crew vary with each lift, so request a written quote with the load details.
A crawler crane stands on two wide steel tracks instead of wheels, which spreads its weight and lets it lift and travel with a load on soft or uneven ground. Lattice booms with a long reach make it the choice for heavy lifts on piling rigs, bridges, towers, tanks and industrial plant. Large units arrive in sections by trailer and are assembled on site.
Check lift capacity at the working radius, boom length with jib, ground bearing pressure and the space needed for assembly. Lift planning is required. See also cranes for rent, or Post an inquiry with the weight, radius and height of your lift.
A crawler crane spreads its load over long tracks, so it works on soft ground and can move while carrying a load. It also reaches further with a lattice boom and jib. A mobile crane is faster to set up and drive between sites, so it suits shorter jobs.
Sixty-two are listed today, from 11 suppliers: 38 in Dubai, 13 in Sharjah and 11 in Abu Dhabi. Large capacity units are limited, so request quotes early and give dates, weight, radius and height.
It can be a large part of the cost. Big cranes travel in pieces on several trailers and need time and a crew to assemble, so quotes usually include mobilisation, assembly and dismantling. Ask the supplier to itemise these so quotes can be compared.
The tracks need a firm, level platform that can bear the crane's weight plus the lifted load. Soft ground may need compacted fill or timber or steel mats. The supplier can give ground bearing pressure, and your engineer should confirm the platform design before the crane arrives.
