JCB Backhoe Loader Models Listed

The backhoe loader combines a front loader bucket and a rear digging arm on a wheeled chassis. On UAE sites it is used for trenching, pipe laying, backfilling, loading trucks and clearing around utilities. A single operator can switch between digging and loading without a second machine.

Models named on the listings:

• 3CX (8 listings) and 3CX PRO (2): the best known JCB backhoe, in the class of about 8 tonnes operating weight, suited to general trenching and loading.
• 2CX (1) and 2CXSM-4WS (1): smaller machines for tighter access, such as narrow service roads and compounds.
• 3DX (1): a heavier-duty older line of the same kind.
• 540/170 (1): a telehandler model name that appears under this brand, so check the listing to confirm the machine type.

Years on listings include 2002 (2), 2014 (2), 2017 (2), 2010, 2012 and 2020, so ages differ widely.

Where They Are Listed

By city, Dubai has 43 listings, Musaffah 41, Sharjah 20, Ras Al Khaimah 5, Al Fujairah City 4 and Al Ain City 2. Musaffah's strong showing is useful for contractors serving Abu Dhabi industrial and utility work. Transport of a wheeled backhoe is usually by low-loader, and the charge is agreed with each supplier.

Rental Rates

6 JCB backhoe listings show daily rates. They run from AED 699 to AED 800, with a typical rate around AED 750. 6 also show monthly rates, from AED 10,000 to AED 17,000, with a typical figure around AED 12,000. These are rates published by suppliers, and the final price depends on hire period, location and what is included. Confirm operator, fuel, delivery and VAT with the supplier.

What to Check Before Hiring

• Hydraulic leaks at the rams, hoses and the stabiliser legs.
• Backhoe bucket teeth and pins, and play in the boom and dipper joints.
• Tyre condition, which affects stability on loose ground.
• Hour meter reading against the stated age of the machine.
• Whether the bucket size and attachments such as a breaker are included.

Choosing the Right Backhoe for the Job

For narrow trenches beside buildings or in service corridors, a smaller 2CX-type unit gets in where a 3CX cannot. For long trench runs, pipe laying and loading tippers, the larger 3CX gives more digging depth and bucket capacity. Ask the supplier whether a breaker, a narrow trench bucket or a pipe hook can be fitted, as these change what the machine can do on the day.
