There is no skid steer listed for rent in Houston yet. Someone who needs a compact loader can post a request naming the attachments, and owners can list a skid steer free. More choice is on the national skid steer rental page.
Houston has plenty of small jobs between the big ones. Homebuilders clear and grade lots, landscapers shape yards and drainage swales, and fence and pool crews dig and carry. Inside industrial plants and warehouses, a skid steer cleans, moves pallets and breaks small concrete. After a flood or storm, it removes debris from tight streets and driveways.
Wheeled machines are quick on hard surfaces and easy on turf with care. Compact track loaders spread weight over soft ground and climb out of mud that stops wheels, which matters on Gulf Coast clay after rain. A track machine costs more to rent and to move, so match it to the surface.
The attachment makes the machine. Common ones are buckets, pallet forks, augers, trenchers, brooms, grapples, hydraulic breakers and stump or brush cutters. Check the auxiliary hydraulic flow, because high-flow attachments need a high-flow machine. Ask whether a quick coupler is fitted.
Choose by rated operating capacity, the width of the gate and the weight of the trailer that will carry it. Small units fit through a backyard gate, while larger ones lift heavier pallets.
Compact enough for a pickup and trailer, most skid steers move easily. Check the haul charge and the minimum rental period. For longer needs, see skid steers for sale in Houston or the Houston rental hub.
Houston owners have posted no rates so far. Size, tracks, attachments and delivery change the total.
Tracks, usually. Tell the owner about the ground.
Often a bucket is. Others cost extra.
If the owner does not deliver, yes, and it must carry the weight.
