Haulage still matters on every site here: fill and spoil move off hillside platforms, aggregate comes up from quarries, and materials for new hotels and villas climb the mountain roads all year. If your job needs a truck, a hire request naming the body type, payload and route will reach owners throughout Saudi Arabia.
The road network linking Abha, Khamis Mushait and the villages in the Sarawat is a sequence of climbs, descents and tight bends. Trucks that handle that kind of road need strong brakes, an engine brake or retarder and drivers used to long downhill stretches. A loaded tipper that cruises across the flat Eastern Province can overheat its brakes within a few kilometres of continuous descent.
Fog is the other factor. Visibility on the ridges can fall sharply, and rain makes the surface slick, so many hauliers in the region avoid moving heavy loads in the worst conditions. Ask a supplier how it handles days when the pass is closed or slow.
